Common Behavior Clues
When we slow down and observe, behavior can give us important information about what a child may be experiencing.
Crying or meltdowns
May signal overwhelm or difficulty coping with big feelings.Hitting, yelling, or throwing
Often a sign that big emotions are present, but words or strategies are limited.Shutting down or withdrawing
Can indicate overstimulation, uncertainty, or a need for emotional safety.Refusing or saying “no”
May reflect a child’s need for control, predictability, or clearer expectations.
At Little Detectives: Big Feelings, we help children recognize these clues and build the tools to express themselves safely.
