About Little Detectives: Big Feelings
Little Detectives: Big Feelings was created to support young children as they learn to understand, name, and express big emotions in safe, healthy ways.
We believe big feelings are not misbehavior; they are communication. When children are given the language, tools, and support they need, emotional moments become opportunities for connection, learning, and growth.
Our work centers on play, developmentally appropriate practices, and relationship-based support to help children build emotional awareness and confidence early, during the years that matter most.
Why We Created Little Detectives: Big Feelings
Through our work with young children and families, we saw how often big emotions were misunderstood — or addressed only after challenges escalated.
Too often, children are expected to manage feelings they haven’t yet been taught how to understand or express.
Little Detectives: Big Feelings was created to be proactive. Our goal is to help children feel seen, understood, and capable before big feelings become overwhelming, while partnering with parents, caregivers, and educators during the most important years of emotional development.
Our Approach
We believe emotional learning should be gentle, engaging, and rooted in connection. Children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and understood.
Our sessions use play, movement, stories, visuals, and guided activities to help children:
Notice emotions in their bodies
Learn simple language for big feelings
Practice expressing emotions in developmentally appropriate ways
Children are supported at their own pace and are never forced to participate beyond their comfort level. Our approach is grounded in trust, consistency, and compassion — creating a calm, nurturing environment where children can safely explore emotions and build confidence.
